She didn’t run away.
She ran toward.

How a Finnish woman followed a quiet, persistent dream all the way to an Italian village — and built a business helping others do the same.

CHAPTER I

THE DREAM...

that wouldn’t go quiet. It didn’t arrive in a dramatic moment. There was no single sunrise over the Apennines, no one conversation that changed everything. It was more like a watermark — always there, just beneath the surface of daily life in Finland.

For years, Italy lived inside Riina Walli the way some dreams do: warmly, insistently, in the background. A pull toward light and slowness and stone walls and the particular way Italians say buonasera like they actually mean it. The smell of espresso through an open door. The weight of afternoon silence in an old piazza.
She was in her 50s — an age when many people begin to make peace with their unlived lives. Riina did the opposite. She decided to actually live one.

“I quickly realised how many others dream of the same thing.
Not just traveling to Italy — but truly living here.”

THE LEAP

In 2021, she packed her life in Finland and moved to Italy. Not for a holiday. Not for a trial run. She settled into a small Italian village, where everyday life is simple and full of human connection — neighbours who know your name, market mornings, meals that take their time.

And that realisation changed everything. Because Riina had not only made the leap — she had learned how. She understood the Italian property market from the inside: its charm, its chaos, its particular combination of beauty and bureaucracy. She spoke the language. She knew the people. She had done, the hard way, exactly what her future clients were trying to do.

“It was the dream for all emotions — the sight of yellow-dotted trees, the scent of citrus, the warmth of the country they grow in. Everything you could ever dream of.”

CHAPTER III

WHERE THE NAME CAME FROM

The name didn’t come from a marketing brief or a brand workshop. It came from a conversation between two friends, sharing lifegoals, dreams and bucet lists.

One of them described it like this: I want to wake up one morning and see lemon trees from my bedroom window. That was the whole dream, distilled into one image. Not a property spec. Not a country or a region or a budget. Just that window. Those trees. The yellow against the green, the scent of citrus drifting in with the morning warmth, the particular quality of light that only exists where lemons grow.

Lemon trees became the shorthand for an entire life imagined. A life slower, warmer, more fragrant than the one they were living. A life where beauty wasn’t something you visited — it was something you woke up inside.

Riina carried that image with her when she moved to Italy. And when it came time to name the business she was building — the one that would help others find their own version of that window, those trees, that warmth — there was really only one name it could be.

Lemonhunter. Because what she hunts for her clients isn’t just a property. It’s the life on the other side of that window.

“I’m your eyes, ears, and feet on the ground. Not to sell you a property — to find you the right one.”

CHAPTER IV

WHY LEMONHUNTER EXISTS
The Italian real estate market is not designed for outsiders. Listings are unreliable. Agents work for the seller, not for you. Viewings eat your annual leave. The buying process is opaque to anyone who didn’t grow up inside it. And yet every year, thousands of Northern Europeans — Finnish, Swedish, German, Dutch — fall in love with Italy and try to find their place in it.

Most of them get lost.

Lemonhunter was born from this gap. Riina created not a real estate agency, but something Italy had never really offered the foreign buyer before: a buyer’s agent. Someone who works exclusively for you. Who views properties on your behalf, filters out the lemons, navigates the language and the law, and finds you the right home — not the one easiest to sell.

“I’m your eyes, ears, and feet on the ground.
Not to sell you a property — to find you the right one.”

What makes this different

LIVED IT
She made the move herself

A buyer’s agent, not a seller’s
No commissions from sellers. No incentive to close wrong deals. Pure, undivided loyalty to the buyer.

ON THE GROUND
Italy, actually
She’s there. She views, she asks questions, she reads the rooms. You don’t have to fly over for every maybe.

CHAPTER VI

A LETTER TO YOU WITH A DREAM
If you have spent years thinking about a different life — one with more warmth, more slowness, more beauty worked into the ordinary — you already know the feeling. It’s the fantasy that keeps returning. The folder of saved properties. The imagined mornings with espresso and no rush.

The question isn’t whether the dream is real. Italy is real. The life is real. The question is whether you’re ready to stop imagining it and start finding it.

That’s where Lemonhunter comes in. Not to sell you a dream. To help you find the actual house inside it.

Riina
